Brazilian Football Legend, Ronaldo, Joins the Poker Party

Ronaldo, the hero of the 2002 World Cup that was won by Brazil, showed his poker skills last week when he participated in an invitation to a charity poker tournament in Barcelona.

The Brazilian legend was in Spain to participate in the charity tournament as part of the country ‘s largest poker festival , the European Poker Tour. He competed for 5,000 euros at the Phenomenon Table against the Spanish stars of online poker and against the pros PokerStars team.

Despite the tournament being won by the pro PokerStars team, Venessa Selbst, Ronaldo was impressed by his performance saying: “I have always tried to do my best in everything, in football and in life. Poker is another challenge that excites me. There are many similarities between football and poker: both require a lot of mental discipline, practice and training. ”

European Poker Tour

The European Poker Tour is owned and operated by Rational Group, the company of the PokerStars family. This event took place this year for the decimal consecutive season, running from the 26th of August until the 27th of September at the Casino de Barcelona in the luxurious Hotel Arts Barcelona.

In addition to the charity event, nearly 3000 players from around the world were in the Catalan capital for the last week of the poker festival. More than 14 million euros were awarded as cash prizes throughout the festival. The “Estrellas” main event attracted a record 1798 players, making it the biggest event to take place outside of Las Vegas.
